The municipality of Lemoiz currently has a population of approximately 1,500 inhabitants, mainly located in the towns of Urizar (administrative center), Armintza and Andraka.

With the exception of the town of Andraka, whose waters flow into the Butrón river basin, the rest of the municipality is part of an independent basin that runs through the Amorraga river, at the mouth of which the town of Armintza is located.

The sewage network collects a large part of the municipality, whose discharge is carried out without any treatment next to the port of Armintza, near the beach, which in summer receives more than 1000 bathers a week.

The purpose of this Project is to define and evaluate the necessary works to be able to bid for the construction of the sewage treatment plant of Lemoiz, which will be able to discharge into the sea at the same point as at present, being the characteristics of the discharged water sufficient to avoid health problems in the nearby bathing area.

The works defined in the present Project complement the works defined in the “Detailed Project of Sewerage of Lemoiz”, in which several actions are included that are directly related to the projected R.D.S., and which are mentioned below:

  • Pumping station in the port of Armintza and pipelines to transport the effluent to the WWTP.
  • Impulsion and collectors for transporting treated water from the WWTP to the connection with the outfall for discharge into the sea.

The definition of the works of the WWTP has been carried out in accordance with the geometric definition of the routes of the pipelines described in the “Lemoiz Sewerage Detailed Project”.
